Atro-city
There are savages amongst us whose hate is boundless.
RIP, Francisco Javier Torronteras, they can't do anything to you anymore...
It's a shame.
But one thing bugs me : are they obliged to put "islamic" before writting "terrorist"? It can sound ridiculous but it brings shame upon all muslims to write that... sort of...
Posted by: Stéphane at April 19, 2004 09:52 PMStéphane,
1) That I know, the terrorists weren't buddhist monks;
2) So from the actions of a few, you're judging a whole community/religion/race/whatever? Interesting.
Still waiting for that Colin Powell quote btw. Or an acknowledgement that you lied and an apology to our readers.
Posted by: Carine at April 19, 2004 11:30 PMThe CNN report put "suspected" before "Islamic". The Expatica report drops "Islamic" entirely. It is a small victory for truth that both reports refer to the bombers as terrorists at all.
Over at la-la-Rueters the bombers are "Moroccan Islamist radicals", "suspects", "perpetrators", and "Islamist militants".
These niceties all but ignore al Qaeda begging for someone, anyone, to acknowledge their handiwork.
There has been an authenticated public claim of responsibility by one "Abu Dujana al-Afgani, Ansar Group [Ansar al-Islam], al-Qaida in Europe". No dubiety here.
The Spanish intelligent services have credible evidence of involvement by the Moroccan Islamic Combatant Group, which has links to al Qaeda.
Terrorists in the field when caught openly admit not to their crimes but their actions (i.e., their crimes). (There is a different dynamic for the terrorist leadership.) Not calling those who commit what are recognized as acts of terror terrorists is a lie.
When reporting on the Olympics, when a Frenchie wins a medal he is reported as French. Also he is described as winning his medal, not "suspected" of winning a medal. How do the news services know he's French. Well, he says so and the recognized national and Olympic agencies say so.
When a terrorist says he's a terrorist (acknowledging membership in a designated terrorist organization is the equivalent) and admits to acts of terror for the restoration of the caliphate, well, Stéphane, in my book that's an Islamic terrorist. Not a suspect Islamic terrorist. Actually an Islamofascist. There, this single term should quiet those quibbles of yours.

Posted by: Damian Bennett at April 20, 2004 04:36 AMFrank Torronteras is already dead. It is the cowards of Spain who are dying a few more times.
Interior Minister can't even mention this during Franks memorial. OOPS Joe Alonso. Sounds like the Terrorist got your tongue.

Frenchfregoli,
Wow. I had no idea that the story had not been picked up by all the media... Thank you for your efforts to get it out there.
Posted by: Valerie at April 20, 2004 10:39 AMCheck your link
The historical revisionists at CNN have already redirected the story. Now noone will be inconveinetly forced to display a spine for Francisco Javier Torronteras.
Posted by: papertiger at April 20, 2004 11:45 AMThank you, Papertiger.
Seems it wasn't all that newsworthy to our friends at CNN.
Here's another link to the story for those who would like one.

I answered you a couple days ago about that. I'm not able to find it. So the best thing to do is acknowledge that he didn't said that at all, a pure thing coming straight from my teenager mind. Anyway he'll be obliged to say that because there are no WMD at all in Iraq... But if you don't like my solution lets pretend that I lied and that I apologize, so everybody will be pleased !
:)
Damian :
Ok but the one thing you have to do before saying words like "islamofascist" or "islamic terrorist" is to agree that there are the same kind of people within the Christian religion. I tell you about that because, some people think that terrorisom and christianism aren't compatible, but actually there are and we have to care about how do the muslims feels when they hear about "islamics terrorists".
Stephane,
You read about many Mennonite suicide bombers? For 70+ years, the Soviet Union effectively closed down the Russian Orthodox Church. It had no christian suicide bombers. The whole of the Arabian peninsula was originally Christian land, viciously stolen by sword wielding Criminals. BY a religion based on a pathological criminality.
If you are worrying on how a muslim feels about it, you are only displaying your woeful lack of education pertaining to muslims.
Mohommad was a seventh century Hitler. His story didn't end on D-day because, there was no America to fight back at that time. He co-opted religion in order to gain obedience from ignorant bedoin. It is no mistake that Islam's golden rule is Mohommad is the only prophet of God and you should obey his words like he is God.
