A thirteenth labor?
Or is it the second?
Erik Svane has undertaken the Herculean task of documenting and exposing the Anti-American character of French media, mainly its newspaper of reference, Le Monde.
Le Monde Watch is born.
Go see the baby and don't forget to congratulate the father.
Posted by Carine at May 5, 2004 10:07 AMIf you don't like it, don't read it instead of wasting you time creating blogs...
I prefer E-nough
Posted by: Stéphane at May 5, 2004 05:51 PMThe problem is not that we don't like it but that its reporting is profoundly biased. Yet it is France's reference newspaper. That's why a watch group is such a good idea.
Le Monde's hypocrisy and fallacy has to be exposed. Not everyone prefers to turn a blind eye, you know, or pretend it doesn't exist.
Posted by: Carine at May 5, 2004 06:07 PMOn the contrary I think that le Monde should be more engaged...Not to critisize the US Army (not at all) but to prevent soldiers from doing such things.

Posted by: Stéphane at May 5, 2004 10:07 PMStéphane,
A newspaper is not an NGO, nor an activist group. The role of a newspaper is NOT to be "engaged" but to deliver news. Period.
That's precisely what you don't understand: it is biased and still you ask for more bias.
And it's not just about anti-Americanism. As I said, it is a herculean task to expose all of Le Monde's bias.
Your link doesn't work btw. It brings me back to the homepage for world news.
Posted by: Carine at May 5, 2004 11:06 PMLe Monde is the only Major newspaper in the free world which goes out of its way to keep the Government happy.
Check out the BBC and NYTimes and Australian Broadcast Company. Every one is veminently against the Government, even to the point of creating completely false stories.
Lemonde is the odd ball. Gutless journos are so rare.

Actually, I'm donj't really know because I read Le monde rarely...
It's a pity that my link doesn't work it was very interresting.
Posted by: Stéphane at May 6, 2004 01:31 PMStephane, why do you not read Le Monde? What newspapers do you read? If none, where is the source of the news that you do obtain?
Carine:
Since this post is about newspapers and we had discussed in an earlier thread about Bush’s
D-Day Visit and coverage in the newspapers thought I’d bring it up.
This is the first article I’ve seen about the visit so far. It was on front page of Washington Times this morning. The article is not that good, or informative, but the most interesting thing is the title: ‘France seeks to bolster US ties’. I’m not sure I would have used that title for this story.
Stéphane,
Still talking about something you don't know much about, I see.
What was the title of the article for your link? I should be able to find it.
Andy,
Really, I don't understand why Bush is coming to Paris. To Normandy, I do. But Paris?
One anti-war, pro-Palestinian & Iraqi "resistance" group here has already planned to "welcome" him, the "biggest terrorist in the world". Little idiots. On the eve of June 6th. It's indecent.
I guess that's their way of commemorating the Normandy Landing, of saying thanks for our liberty to sream our stupidity to the world.
I was in a Parisian university the other day and they were soliciting young, fellow deadheads for their demonstration. They're quite aggressive on top of that.

Who knows about that ???? look on tv5 website...
