Crowned for a sixth time - History is made

Gave up an afternoon of unusually good weather to watch him win and don't regret it one single minute. Golden spokes, golden helmet...smile in place.
The dreamer in me is newly inspired, the American in me is damn proud and the expatriate in me...mildly smug.
Congratulations!
(Note: I cannot figure out why France 2 didn't show any footage at all of Lance actually crossing the finish line just now... How French is that.)
YIPPEE!!!
Now, if we could just do something about his choice of a girlfriend.....
Posted by: andy at July 25, 2004 09:19 PMOh, Andy, you know what they say - luv is blind.
I don't know much about Crow, she's risen to fame since my departure from the USA, but I can tell you that I've seen the luvbirds together briefly on TV as she congratulated him on a stage win, and, frankly, the guy looks SO smitten and SO happy when he looks at her... Life's too short and nobody's perfect.
You may have heard that Robin Williams joined him again this year, and Williams, too, was mucho criticized for running off with the babysitter. The babysitter's still his wife and was there beside him today in Paris.
You never know how luv will turn out, do you.
OMG, I wonder if Dear Abby's looking for a replacement... I'm losing my edge, folks.
Uh...maybe I never had any...? :0
Posted by: Valerie at July 25, 2004 09:58 PMCrow is a leftie skank. Part of the Not in My Name cabal.
As for "life's too short" philosophy. Tell that to his ditched kids. Where do they go to pick up a new Dad as easily as he picked up a honey?
Lance may know how to ride a bike but he knows squat on what it takes to be a real man.
Posted by: Valerie, Texas at July 25, 2004 10:37 PMMy other concern is that he declared his second choice (after the United states of course) for home would be France! It proves that even a great champion can have bad taste...
Posted by: Maryse at July 26, 2004 10:07 AMYikes, lookee what I started. Ooops.
Luv must be blind; my wife has stuck with me, no matter what I've done!
