Parasites Hackers for Kerry?

Online protests targeting GOP websites could turn out to be more than symbolic during this month's Republican National Convention, possibly blocking a critical communications tool for the party. . .

"We want to bombard (the Republican sites) with so much traffic that nobody can get in," said CrimethInc, a member of the so-called Black Hat Hackers Bloc. It's one of several groups planning to distribute software tools to reload Republican sites over and over again. These FloodNet programs are similar to hackers' distributed denial-of-service attacks, which overwhelm a server with thousands and thousands of simultaneous requests for information.

But some activists are condemning the planned attacks, saying they violate the principles of free speech that protesters rely on for their demonstrations.

"If you feel that you must shut up someone through intimidation or false accusations or any other method -- you are not relying on the superiority of the truth," The Pull, co-founder of the online political action group Hacktivismo, wrote in an e-mail. "People can not condemn censorship and then embrace it" . . .

The Black Hat Hackers Bloc is hoping to cause a whole lot more trouble when the Republicans start to gather in New York. The groups will be targeting not only GOP computers, but "e-mail, faxes and phones, too," CrimethInc said, as well as unspecified "financial disruption" . . .

It's unclear exactly how effective these online actions will be. In an interview, CrimethInc boasted that his associates defaced the website for Drug Abuse Resistance Education, or DARE, with a pro-pot-legalization screed, and promised similar strikes against Republican sites. In the past, veteran online activists have called these tactics the "kind of stupidity that gives hacking a bad name."

The attacks during the Republican convention may be just the beginning, however. At the Hackers on Planet Earth gathering in New York City, one speaker promised attendees, "You will learn how to infiltrate organizations like the RNC, how to look for and find security holes, and how mischief and mayhem is achieved."

If the Hackers want to prove that they are smarter than the republican they shouldn't use the same method as them...

Posted by: Stéphane at August 19, 2004 01:29 AM

Anyway, according to the TIME MAGAZINE's poll, Kerry and the Democrats shouldn't be afraid of the results of November :

Kerry : 48%
Bush : 43%
Nader : 4%

Posted by: Stéphane at August 19, 2004 01:55 AM

Oups ! I forgot to say that the poll was from the 16th August (2004 of course).

Posted by: Stéphane at August 19, 2004 01:56 AM

did you say August? Times magazine picked Adolph Hitler as man of the year

Twice!

need I say more?

Good find Carine!

Oh Time Magazine! Time Magazine! The news magazine English teachers in France swear by.
That is, when they do not prefer Newsweek (and they do most of the time).
Those two are the news bibles we're strongly advised to read to perfect our English - ahem. See how it worked on Stéphane?

But wait a minute, I thought the fascist Republicans were holding all American media in their claw and they all had to (and did) support Bush and his war for oil because they had no choice.

Chances are those damn Republicans are gonna use their censorship techniques (why are those stupid left-wing parasites doing the same? Censorship has never been a left-wing technique. Never been, never will) to forbid Time's publication, by disrupting the printing, for example. Surely we'll never hear of all those very-really-truthfull and not-biased-at-all polls. Phew. I was afraid some troll would throw at us the censored poll.

Papertiger :

Adolf Hitler, what year ? 2003 ? 1990 ? I guess no...

Carine :

Hey ! Come down ! Did I say that stuff ?
It quote that on the TIME because I think Time is more "fair and balanced" than Fox News (just an example).
But, you're wrong about the fact that teachers only swear by this magazine, because there are a lot of other magazine teachers swear by, like : the washington post, Los Angeles Time, The Economist (sometimes), the Guardian (more the guardian weekly) etc...

And I don't understand why I'm talking about that because it wasn't the subject at the begining.

Thank you Stephane for strengthening my point. I think you forgot the NYT. And if you go far enough in studying English, there's also The Nation. Awww, The Nation.

Which leaves me wondering just how much Fox News you've actually watched. Well, why should you bother I suppose, when there's always someone to provide an opinion for you...

Strange coincidence.

I have been giving the Democrats at Atrios an unedited (and at times vulgar) piece of my mind for about a week.
Today I find an email in my "in box" labeled "returned to sender due to virus found in attachment". It was sent to pamphlets@calbar.ca.gov by persons unknown, spoofing my email.

I imagine they got the idea from what has become my defacto campaign slogan. I alway end each post with Kerry lied - sue me.
I hope some day his lawyers actually try to. If they do, I'll post a copy of the threatening legal action here, {sanitized of virus, of course}.

Stephane

I googled Adolph Hitler Man of the Year for you . You can check the dates. Note the name of the magazine.

Posted by: Papertiger at August 19, 2004 10:03 PM

Yep. No left tilt there. Move along, nothing to see.

Atrios, huh? You have a cast-iron stomache. How many times have you seen the FactCheck.org drivel sloshed about?

Posted by: Doug at August 20, 2004 01:27 AM

I weht to Atrios to see Tiger's mighty claw marks. Definitely the sleazy side of town. Hanging out there requires cast iron huevos as well as stomach.

Don't ever be outside in a lightening storm Tiger...

Papertiger :

So, according to you... the fact that Time elected Adolf Hitler as "man of the year" in 1938!! means that we shouldn't read it ????

Did you know that 1938 was 66 years ago ? and that in 1938 noone knew what would happen after 1939 ?

*sigh*

OH-MY-GOD

Posted by: Carine at August 20, 2004 01:30 PM

and that in 1938 no one knew what would happen after 1939

Oh, Stephane, my ignorant little friend. Many, many, people were aware of the problems that Hitler was about to unleash on Europe.

Try reading anything by Churchill written between 1930 and 1938. Just because the Third Republic was blindsided by the Third Reich, doesn’t mean that some in the world did not know what was coming.

Posted by: andy at August 20, 2004 02:05 PM

Sure, read Time, as long as you realize it has a very decided slant to its viewpoint. Stretching out on one's left side to read it is advised.

And let us not forget their offering up the Ayatollah of Rock n; Rolla, Kohmeini as Man of the Year too!

Posted by: Valerie, Texas at August 20, 2004 04:12 PM

Factcheck.org ? I never heard of them.
About the atrios crowd, they are so quick to dispute most any fact you toss up at them, that it makes the exercise very enjoyable. You don't even have to exert yourself. Just dig out the relivant paragraph from the post you tossed up, repost it in bold, and say "na na na na na na! surface lookers!" It's like debating with Stephane to the 10th power, only take out two parts cheerfulness, and add a shot of condescension.(is it condescending of me to admit this?)

The reason I go there is they make me feel like a genius, plus they eschue the standard Democrat debate tactic (ie; delete any point contrary to their own opinion; banning said offensive poster from commenting further.)

Posted by: Papertiger at August 20, 2004 08:12 PM

Opposing viewpoints are verboten? Hmm, where have I heard that idea before... oh, right - a notorious Republican bastion.

If you think overall that George W. Bush is doing a swell job, or if you wish to see Republicans win, or if you are generally supportive of conservative ideals, please do not register to post, as you will likely be banned.

But wait - don't I keep hearing that it's conservatives who advocate censorship? Why do all the examples lean left?

FactCheck.org stuff. I scribbled some junk about it here.

Posted by: Doug at August 20, 2004 08:53 PM

You're so depressingly right, PT - I spent the evening there yesterday. You don't really need any kind of a tactic - it's just blisteringly easy.

Posted by: Doug at August 21, 2004 02:36 PM

Andy :

Instead of talking about churchill you can answer to my question ! Does it mean that one shouldn't read TIME ??

Of course Andy, I'm sure Churchill was aware that 6 milions jews were going to be killed.

Posted by: Stéphane at August 22, 2004 11:40 PM

One word Stéphane: trustworthy. N/A in Time mag's case.

As for Churchill... well your ignorance is appalling.

Posted by: Carine at August 22, 2004 11:48 PM

Oh, look. And IndyMedia very responsibly includes the personal info - make sure you spread the intimidation around.

Steph, when you get your Time answer, can I have an answer to this?

And when were Republicans shutting down leftist web sites with denial-of-service attacks?

Who has had something like this done to them by Republicans?

Posted by: Doug at August 23, 2004 03:05 AM

And more e-intimidation. The lefties are just tickled pink that someone would endanger the lives of police informance. How very clever.
