As time goes by

News from the Hexagon...

Several French celebrities have recorded radio spots like the one below for Reporters without Borders.

"Hello, this is Catherine Deneuve... Today is Friday, September 17, the 29th day of captivity in Iraq for our compatriots Christian Chesnot, Georges Malbrunot and their companion Mohammed al-Jundi. As long as they are hostages, we are too. Don't forget them."

29 days already... The clock keeps ticking.

Some things change, others don't.

Some get put off 'til later. Some get swept under the rug.

Some plan for the future. Some worry about it.

Some seem to wake up after a long sleep. Some get away with a lot before anyone wakes up.

And some people have more time on their hands than is good for them.

Weaving all these disparate stories into one coherient post is quite a feat! I think you have something girl.

from the Planning link - "We as a family have always believed that California has great potential for wine," says Jean-Charles. "Of course, it's young, but I was not around in the 12th century when Burgundy was developed."
Little business tip for Boisset, if you act as if you were around in the 12th century you will do well. Jean Charles needs to keep the attitude. Uppity snob winers go over big in Frisco.

Radio France correspondent Christian, Chesnot Le Figaro reporter Georges Malbrunot and their Syrian driver, Mohammed al-Jundi have recorded messages voicing support for two French celebrities Catherine Deneuve and Juliette Binoche who were taken hostage in Iraq nearly a month ago, the organizer of the initiative, the Paris-based group Reporters Sans Frontieres (RSF), said today.

"Hello, this is correspondent Christian, Chesnot," goes the first one. "Today is Friday, September 17, the 29th day of captivity in Iraq for our compatriots Catherine Deneuve and Juliette Binoche. As long as they are hostages, we are too. Don't forget them."

Wouldn’t it be interesting to see what the French would do if their beloved celebrities were held captive in a sh*t hole in Iraq? Do you think there would just be a radio spot that said, “As long as they are hostages, we are too. Don't forget them” or would they do more?

Paper -

I'll take the compliments where they lie.

Wine-makers snobs? Surely you gest.

Snail -

Surely the French hostages are not being kept in a 'sh*thole'!? Do you have information that you are not sharing with the rest of us, Snail? Hmmm?

Of course not! French hostages are surely worthy of no less than 5-star accomodations! A day of hardship undoubtedly contains only 4 square meals, and requires them to vacate the room to allow housekeeping staff in. They are French, after all! What do you think these people are, animals?

"Of course, it's young, but I was not around in the 12th century when Burgundy was developed."

What to think then of equally-young Oregonian wines that kick French ass?
