Time's Person of the Year

For candidates, getting elected is the test that counts. Ronald Reagan did it by keeping things vague: It's Morning in America. Bill Clinton did it by keeping things small, running in peaceful times on school uniforms and V chips. Bush ran big and bold and specific all at the same time, rivaling Reagan in breadth of vision and Clinton in tactical ingenuity. He surpassed both men in winning bigger majorities in Congress and the statehouses.Posted by Valerie at December 19, 2004 02:20 PM
POTUS is looking like and walking with a purpose. In the background: typical bewildered looking DC motorcycle cop... He actually looks familiar.
Posted by: Joe N. at December 19, 2004 03:03 PMFor once, Time has it right and hasn't caved in to the endless adolescent repetition pf "moron, moron, moron"
He indeed IS a revolutionary, and is such a wit, has such sharp political acumen that most of his critics resort to hysterical abuse.
I love this picture of The Man.
I came across it yesterday, can't remember where, and saved it. I don't even know who to give credit to...
Just had to post it.

Posted by: Valerie at December 20, 2004 12:22 AMJoe,
The DC motorcycle cop is not looking bewildered, but rather, impressed, as he gazes on the President's mighty fine lookin' boots. They are sharp.
Well, TIME may have recognized W as the Person of The Yearn, from the tone of their verbage you can tell they hated doing it. Must have burned them to do this. HA! HA! Good.
Last inauguration, I was in DC for a meeting. In the Mayflower Hotel lobby, I saw several Texans dressed in tuxedoes, western boots and hats. Wearing a homburg, I got a couple of strange looks. Replied to them that it was a John B. (Stetson). Shared a couple of drinks in the hotel bar (same bar that J. Edgar caught several Nazi agents in WWII). Texans are good folks – lived in Ft Worth myself for a couple of years.
