It's a woman's world
Most Bloggers Are WomenMen may have taken the lead in the early (read: geeky) days of blogging, but that's not the case now. According to a survey of more than 4 million blogs by Perseus Development, 56% were created by women. More bad news for the boys: men are more likely than women to abandon their blog once it's created. Call blogging a 21st century room of one's own.
Go here for the 9 other things Time learned about blogs this year.
Posted by Valerie at December 19, 2004 01:29 PMYeah, yeah, yeah... I wonder if that accounts for people who catblog, and my college aged cousin Genny who blogs about what she has for lunch...
Men - read GEEK?!?
What is this? one of those ads where the guy just looks dumb, has his remaining pride wounded, while the woman simply steps right in and finishes rebuilding a car trasmission, or baking something to perfection?
C'mon already. The last woman who criticized my "guy-like" apartment turned out to be someone who accomplishes the opposite by hiring a cleaning service...

Which is why I say in my post that these 10 things are what TIME learned about blogging this year!
LOL
Posted by: Valerie at December 19, 2004 03:19 PMThe other 8 looked pretty silly as well. Why they gave the Daily Kos equal billing with Instapundit (who get more traffic than the Tokyo transit system).
Bof!
Posted by: Joe N. at December 19, 2004 05:04 PMThat is pretty funny if you think that Time or any other mag can find the facts...sounds good though.
Posted by: Michael at December 20, 2004 05:40 AMugh!
I want to avoid the whole man vs. woman thing. We live in the domain of ideas. The great equalizer. I believe that Time is the biggest loser. AND I bet they didn't include that item on their list.

I win!
Ha
Paper:
Having conversations with yourself in blog threads in NOT a good sign.
I agree that the whole male/female stuff is old hat.
I cringe when Taranto uses the word 'blogress'.
How amazing that Time thought themselves somehow qualified to write a top ten about blogs, eh?
:)
Posted by: Valerie at December 20, 2004 06:08 PMPaper, I've never seen anyone repost their own post. Nice move.
Val, I think Time is worried about the blogs taking over their turf.
Posted by: andy at December 23, 2004 02:56 PMYup, I agree. The MSM are running scared. The ones who are competent E-nough! to understand what's been happening, of course.
