I'll never visit Germany again as long as I live

Thanks to Joe for the heads up about the German weasels in Mainz and their weaselly sense of weasel 'humor'.

Don't think it's offensive? Just imagine a carnival float in the USA depicting Herr Schoeder in the same pose.

Very sophisticated.
Too bad it that it isn't as insulting as the creators would like to believe. It's just too childish - It looks like something the Mainz high school kids built to promote their goofy spring play "Animal House II: Rudeness on the Rhine".

I thought the images on Stern were particularly charming ones for a pre-lenten event... Bush shooting at people with a machine-gun in the form of a cross, Cardinal Meissner burning a pregnant woman at the stake... Can you smell the faith, humility, penitence, tolerance, etc., etc.?

The filty, ignorant, cretins don't even recognize blasphemous imagery anymore.

They sure put alot of time and care into their blasphemous imagery.

Val from Tex and I, still prefer the Pasadena Tournament of Roses parade.

Fire up some old B-52's and bomb away over krautland. More firebombs. We stopped to soon last time, lets not make the same mistake again...

Joe N.,
It would be blasphemy, except I doubt if these uncouth scum are even believers. Oh, they may go through the motions and get a cross marked on their foreheads, but it will signify nothing. An empty gesture without meaning or purpose. Something at which they seem to excel.

Andy,
I love the old B-52. I grew up on the air base in Bittburg, Germany. The one that had the planes ready to scramble in case Red Ivan decided to go crazy. Our German friends were grateful that Americans were willing to take the bullet if Moscou got itchy to aquire West Germany too.

How many of these ingrates in Mainz recall how Amerian B-52 pilots risked their lives to drop food, medicine and candy to Berliners during the Berlin blockade? Or that Americans with guns stood between them adn Ivan all those years? Oh, of course it means nothing now, they are all watered down communists.

Tiger,
Next year, Pasadena!!

I don't think we need to bomb anything in Germany - we just need to react appropriately to the bigotry, and not come running next time they need us. There are plenty of others who need the help, and they'd actually appreciate it.

I just happened on this site today. Had to, ahem, step out of the room for a minute after seeing the masthead, ... anyway, I digress. I just don't blame the Germans. We 'United Statians' are really just coming to terms with our own Civil War in what is beginning to look like a final way. Same indulgance goes for the French. Nations need their pride, and they will invent it where it doesn't exist.

It is annoying however, that is for sure. We should call them on their excesses though. Some of them are listening. Just don't expect too much from a nation doubly traumatized by loss of empire, power, and prestige and complicity in the horrific atrocities which occurred in ground zero of the bloodiest century in recorded history. European soil is soaked in blood. They know it. I just wish they would spend more time looking inward for the causes, instead of outward. Denial is the longest river in the world, and it is sad to see Europe unable to come to terms with her history in a way that leads her to avoid the mistakes in the future.

What do they do instead? In propaganda that Hitler could have produced, which the European nations swallowed whole at that time too, they blame others again for their problems.

I`ll be going to Munich soon and I intend to have a very good time :)

It`s called Spring BREAK and yes they cut loose.
And the "so well educated American students" drink, piss and fornicate at home a well as abroad, but I`m sure that the You`re-A-Peons never ever indulge in such degrading rituals what with them being so much better at everything than everyone else.

When the " so well educated american students " are going to Mexico

Well, I'd say the students are pretty smart to go to Mexico and NOT GERMANY where, instead of acting like PIGS, people are PIGS.

" fu**ing ... like PIGS "

Oops, let a little bit of your private fantasy life slip into that post, eh Gerry?

It's wrong to fantasize about relatives.

The Carnival, a tradition going back a couple of hundred years, pokes fun at politicians. This particular float was poking fun at Angela Merkel, a conservative politician, for being so fawning towards Bush.
Now, nobody here (in Mainz) considered it Anti-American, or even Anti-Bush, just a poke at a German politician.
Americans here are actually well liked, and treated as equals, even when they do stupid things (invading Iraq, getting drunk, refusing to obey international law etc.) but, and here's the bad news guys... The days when the troops were seen as liberators, you could get laid for a pair of silk stockings or a packet of cigarettes, are long over.
The Americans unfortunately lost the moral high ground, especially with the torture of prisoners in Iraq, and some Germans are rubbing it in a bit. Naughty but understandable.

Robroy:

Your comment is proof of what we find objectionable.

First, you say 'No, no, no one here is anti-American'.

Second, you spout a list of things that you think prove that W and America are 'stupid' and less than moral.

So where were the floats showing all the other 'stupid' and 'immoral' leaders with their pants down, eh?

Oh, and look at your list... Invading Iraq - exactly how many terrorist attacks have been on the news in the USA since THAT happened, eh? Getting drunk...what exactly are you talking about...all Americans get drunk? Is that what you mean? Nonsense. Oh, and that bit about international law... well, even if it were true, I can think of many countries in the past, even one called GERMANY that didn't give a flip about international law not so long ago and you can't make me believe that the Nazis invaded France and Belgium and, well, all those outher countries to liberate them.

As for your comment about torture...Again, your colors are showing. So, where was the float showing Saddam getting his comeuppance after decades of torturing his own people without so much as a peep out of Europe, eh?

You can have the Germans and Germany. Good riddens.
