Jackpot again for the terrorists?

A French engineer, Bernard Planche, working for a NGO in Iraq has been missing for three weeks. A video showing him and his kidnappers has been broadcast on al-Arabiya. The kidnappers are asking "France to end her illegitimate presence in Iraq".

According to this article in daily Le Figaro, the authorities are having a hard time understanding the demand (since, as everyone knows, France is not in Iraq, thankyouverymuch) and are thinking a ransom could be later claimed. No kidding?

Another remark in the article also caught my eye. Contrary to the "highly-publicized" kidnappings of French journalists Christian Chesnot, Georges Malbrunot and Florence Aubenas, we have hardly heard of the kidnapping of Bernard Planche:

No support committee was created by humanitarian organizations and the daughter of the hostage, Isabelle Planche, is respecting the orders of silence from the French authorities.
