I would draw a cowboy gazing at headlines reading:

US bombs China
US bombs Korea
US bombs Guatemala
US orchestrates mass murders in Indonesia
US bombs Cuba
US bombs Vietnam
US murders Lumumba
US assassins murder Ecuadorian President
US military trains Taliban
US takes out the Sandinistas
US bombs Iraq (repeatedly for a decade)
US bombs Somalia
US bombs Yugoslavia

And in the last panel the headline would read "Somebody Else bombs US", and the cowboy would throw his hat in the air, red-faced, and scream "E-vil!!! Let's kill those mother-fucking commie rat moo-ham-ed lovin' bastards!"

I would do that, but it would be much the same thing as this cartoon. Racist hypocrisy is, apparently, universal.

As is stupidity and ignorance. Thanks for providing an example.

What is supposed to be "racist hypocrisy"? Truth? Ah, but truth is never PC to those who are too scared to open their eyes.

Don't call your southern neighbor for help the day your blog and your freedom to insult those who protect you are finally taken other because it's incompatible with the sharia.

And when the time comes to bomb Iran, we know who the world will rely on to do it....don't we my small minded friend from north of the border....

Posted by: andy at March 9, 2006 01:59 AM

"And when the time comes to bomb Iran..." Do the Iranians know you're planning this? And when will the time come? When oil prices are high enough that you have to question your standard of living or your US-Paris jet setting ways?

I think the US should kill everyone - that way they get all the spoils and no more nasty dissidents who call them on their insanity. And you could save precious time and not have to keep up your own racist and inane blog. Of course, one might argue you shouldn't keep your inane blog anyhow and crack open a history text instead and figure out how the US has been implicated in human rights abuses around the world. Start with "Rise to Globalism: American Foreign Policy since 1939" by Stephen Ambrose and Douglas Brinkley. Hardly a pinko read but we knew where the chips fall...

Racist trigger happy Americans would be funny if they didn't kill people of colour all over the globe. Instead, they're too fucking scary to contemplate.

Posted by: miia at March 10, 2006 07:24 PM

Do the Iranians know you're planning this?
You bet they do. It appears the only ones who don’t know this are some scary liberals who are “to stupid to contemplate”.

And when will the time come?
Just before they attempt to “wipe Israel off the face of the earth”. But, it would appear that this would not bother you. You, who have read one book and think that you have all the answers. Of course, I forgot, you are a liberal, hence you are smarter than everyone. In your own mind, perhaps.

How blatently liberal and elitist you are to assume that you are the only one who has ever read a book….(Carine) the “blogmister” here is extremely intelligent and knows more about world affairs than you will ever even dream of knowing. And I would wager she has read 10 times more books than you.

So, dream away, my little liberal, in your own feeble mind.

But thanks for posting and letting us know how really, really smart you are....LOL

miia,

First of all, to my great despair, I am not an American citizen yet. I am French. I am doing what I could to become an American though. Strange how so many people around the world want to become American citizens, isn't it?

Secondly... what? Could you write in plain English more than two lines that make sense? Or is it too much to ask to your remaining neuron to spit something else than leftist, hateful lies?

And about that standard of living, why don't you start yourself, for the common good, by shuting down your computer.

Yes, miia, we are in favor of bombing Iran before it nuke us.

Posted by: Carine at March 10, 2006 09:53 PM

Racist hypocrasy is the cartoon you posted. What amazes me about your analysis is that you are exactly like the people you criticize: full of hate and anger at people you really don't understand.

The time to bomb Iran has nothing to do with what Iran does. The time to bomb Iran is whenever the United States government dedides that doing so is in its best interests. No one else in the world (not Israel, not Canada, not anyone) is begging for the US government to bomb Iran. But if the US government decides to do so, others will go along with it because the US is the only superpower left.

So go ahead and be hateful. But at least be honest about it and drop your self-righteous bullshit.

Contrary to you benjibopper, I do not hate an entire group of people. I do not hate anyone by the way, but I will fight the islamofascits until the end, I never pretended the opposite. Hatred is a waste of time, energy and focus. It is useful to people like you who lack arguments. They hence have the impression to exist.

So, you did not answer my question. What is racist hypocrisy? Isn't the cartoon the truth? Isn't it how it happened? Aren't the islamonazis only offended by a couple of silly cartoons but not by the death of "infidels"?

You are the racist hypocrite. For fear of being labeled a racist, you refuse to acknowledge that not all muslims are angels and that most recent terrorist attacks were carried out by people who acted in the name of Allah.

Again, since when is the truth "racist hypocrisy". Wake up, the barbarians are at the gate. And I refuse to die for a different "culture" there is nothing to understand about.

Posted by: Carine at March 10, 2006 10:58 PM

Benjihopper, you ignorant slut! You keep throwing the word “racist” around like you know what you are taking about.

But, please, you ignorant canadian wof, please explain to us what you mean by racist.

Do you mean race as lineage, race as a type, race as a subspecies, race as status, or race as class. Or, my little canadain slut, do you even know, or understand the differences?

Or are "race" and "racism" just words you throw out in your little liberal mindset because you can not come up with any arguments to prove the feeble points you are trying to make? It’s a cheap way out, but one we would expect from a canadian wof slut such as you.

PS: I’ve been to your website and had to SUFFER through your sophomoric poetry. It really, really, sucks. Why do all liberal sissies think they can write poetry?
LOL!

I found an article in The Guardian that seems to back up Benji's point of view, somehow.

Posted by: FFF at March 11, 2006 01:20 AM

benjibopper,

Last time the US bombed China was to destroy the Imperial Japanese Army. Chinese were rather thankful.

We never trained the Taliban. We trained the mudjeheddin fighting the Soviets. Look at the ages of the Talibs, they're a generation younger.

As for that old bastard, Patrice Lumumba, we didn't kill the cannibal/human sacrifice indulger. I wish we had.

Jeez, are you over 18?

Posted by: interventor at March 11, 2006 01:57 AM

American attitudes towards Islam were not out of step with Europe, Mr Dougherty said, adding that there was more tolerance in the US towards the use of headscarves than in countries such as Germany or France, where there is strong support for a ban. [bolding mine]

Well, FFF, did you even read the article you posted?

Posted by: andy at March 11, 2006 03:15 AM

Andy, where did I write this was something peculiar to only America ? France is far from being immune to islamophobia. By the way, it is my understanding that the webmaster of this blog is French, so you got a point there.

Posted by: FFF at March 11, 2006 04:12 PM

FFF,

And I am supposed to be an islamophobe? Just a question, I'm not sure I get it right.

Posted by: Carine at March 11, 2006 08:22 PM

Posting that cartoon is racist because it implies that a group of people are a certain, negative way. That they are hateful.

You ask if the cartoon is true. It's a cartoon, baby. It doesn't depict a real person. Just some dude in a turban. Have you asked yourself what this cartoon means to you? Do you assume the guy is Muslim because he wears a turban?

What would the cartoon I described, with the cowboy, mean to you? How would such an extreme slam of your beloved American culture affect you?

Don't you think the majority of the Muslim world is horrified by Islamic terrorists? Just as many, many wonderful Americans and many fantastic French people are horrified by the extreme actions of the current US administration and of many other administrations (from both major political parties) before it. Those same people would be horrified by the ridiculous posts made here about bombing Iran.

Why the horror? Because those of us with empathy abhor violence. We see what happened on 9/11 and we're horrified. We see what happened on 9/11 many years earlier in Chile and we're horrified. We see bombs falling on brown people around the world and we're horrified. And we do peace work, and social justice work, and community building work, in response. We work daily toward these things. We strategize, we talk, we write (and some people don't like our writing but that's the risk we take), we reach out to people, and we act.

Unfortunately, violence rings through much of what has been posted by the desktop pundits here, and it is hypocritical because your response to the violence of extremists is more violence. Know what that makes you? Extremists.

Since my first post here my own little blog of random thoughts has received a few very nasty, though mostly inarticulate, comments insulting me and threatening violence. Those insults focus on my nationality, - I'm insulted for being a Canadian and that's just fucking weird, dudes. There was also a comment that implied that I'm a homosexual and that this is bad.

What a shame that instead of meaningful dialogue some people so quickly revert to insults, personal attacks, and violence. It's such an uncreative, unproductive response. It's all too common and it has got us nowhere for decades.

So, ah, good luck with your hate party. I'm going back to the real world now, where I can easily acknowledge that there is hate and racism in America, just like everywhere else. Luckily, there is also joy and beauty, and even more luckily not a single one of you have any power to actually implement the violence you speak of so freely.

ps. Hey wasn't Brokeback mountain great?!

Posting that cartoon is racist because it implies that a group of people are a certain, negative way. That they are hateful.

And yet, I quote you later in your answer to my question "does this represents what happened?":

It's a cartoon, baby. It doesn't depict a real person. Just some dude in a turban.

You can't have it both ways, you know.

Have you asked yourself what this cartoon means to you? Do you assume the guy is Muslim because he wears a turban?

First question: what happened (I think I told you that at least three times already) as a caricature.
Second question: no, I assume he's an islamofascist because of his reaction to the cartoons. You're the one assimilating him to Muslims.

What would the cartoon I described, with the cowboy, mean to you? How would such an extreme slam of your beloved American culture affect you?

And I'll say it again: your fantasy cartoon doesn't depict the truth but what your leftist propaganda and hate-America media want you to believe. Dig a little deeper.
Now about the cartoon I posted, please point to a peaceful, muslim demonstration in support of the Danish cartoon / freedom of speech anywhere in the world (I will need a link) and we'll discuss the exaggeration of this cartoon.
Last but not least: anti-American cartoons are published everywhere everyday. And they generally are much worse than the Danish cartoons. How many American riots? How many American citizens torching foreign embassies?

Oh and bear with me, but I do believe the United States of America and Americans are largely doing their share in foreign aids and liberations around the world so you can stop your little blame-America-for-everything ritournelle here.

Don't you think the majority of the Muslim world is horrified by Islamic terrorists?

That's certainly not what I saw. And I saw it up close with my own eyes in Paris. I do not say most Muslims are not horrified. But they don't speak. They don't demonstrate. Those who do risk their life.

Just as many, many wonderful Americans and many fantastic French people are horrified by the extreme actions of the current US administration

You mean like toppling Saddam?

and of many other administrations (from both major political parties) before it. Those same people would be horrified by the ridiculous posts made here about bombing Iran.

Ooooooh boooh, bad bad America. And I'll say it again, we should bomb Iran before it tries to nuke Israel and Europe. They're threatening us.

Why the horror? Because those of us with empathy abhor violence.

And those of us with balls try to end it. Not negotiate with it. Not appease it. Not f*ck*ng submit to it. END it.

Unfortunately, violence rings through much of what has been posted by the desktop pundits here, and it is hypocritical because your response to the violence of extremists is more violence. Know what that makes you? Extremists.

No. That makes me in control of my life. I will not, never, in any occasion let anyone use violence against me without defending myself as much as I can. Whatever the consequences for my aggressor and myself. I will not submit.

Since my first post here my own little blog of random thoughts has received a few very nasty, though mostly inarticulate, comments insulting me and threatening violence.

Would you mind forwarding me just one? I tend to doubt they're the ones who agree with me. Unfortunately, my blog has been visited by people I cannot agree with. That happens.
Anyway, I am not responsible for my readers' life. You have a public blog, that's what happens sometimes. Not everyone will agree with you or be kind to you. Life's hard, I know, I know.

Those insults focus on my nationality, - I'm insulted for being a Canadian and that's just fucking weird, dudes.

You mean like your comments here "fucking weird[ly]" focusing on America?

There was also a comment that implied that I'm a homosexual and that this is bad.

Oh, pretty please...

It's such an uncreative, unproductive response. It's all too common and it has got us nowhere for decades.

And yet, instead of discussing the cartoon, you pointed the finger at America. For decades indeed. Uncreative, unproductive, anti-American response to the wrongs in the world.

So, ah, good luck with your hate party. I'm going back to the real world now, where I can easily acknowledge that there is hate and racism in America, just like everywhere else.

Unlike in the Middle East, right? The subject of this post, not America. Real, leftist world.

Luckily, there is also joy and beauty, and even more luckily not a single one of you have any power to actually implement the violence you speak of so freely.

And remember to smell the flowers on the road to Neverland.

Hey wasn't Brokeback mountain great?!

Too bad the French hate cowboys, isn't it?

Posted by: Carine at March 12, 2006 12:44 AM

Great post, Carine! And they were sheep herders, not cowboys.

Does anyone remember Hitler used to call Americans cowboys? And, we rode herd on his arse, and his whole perverted bunch.
