Who will be the next French president?

Maybe José Bové. Although he used to say he didn't want to be into politics (right, right), he's ready to run as the candidate of a unified, "collective" far-left, "against the liberal globalization".

Martine Aubry, the mother f-ck-ng b-tch behind of the 35-hour work week could also run. She is also in favor of a monthly minimum wage of at least €1,500 ($1,900). She declared that "a €1,500 minimum wage as well as a large raising of wages, it's the least we can do" faced with French people "who can't manage to make it" and "in order to support consumption which will reactivate the growth".

How many candidates too? Last time, we had 16. Let's bet there'll be even more this time.

Your best bet: the far left or the far right?

I was actually wondering about : Who am I going to vote for in 2007 ?...

There are no politician who worths voting for...

I'm surprised, aren't you eager to vote for Besancenot? He's the French Morales, you should vote for him.

Posted by: Carine at May 28, 2006 07:23 AM

Besancenot ? I thought about it, but I don't thnik it will work out.

You see : I'm not against paying a lot of taxes, if the governement use it in a wise way. Instead of putting everything in their pocket, like our moronic governement does.

But I don't think that somebody evil like Sarkozy will. Ségolène Royal, voting for her because she's a women ? I haven't heard about her plans for the elections... so... I don't know

What do you think about it ?

Any intelligent French citizen who votes Socialist this time around is in complete denial. A Socialist prez would be catastrophic. It would only lead to lots and lots of good money being thrown after the bad uselessly and unemployment will not be reduced one bit and the unions will feel and act more powerful than ever.

Those same FR unions will never ALLOW changes to be made by a president from the Right...

I can't seem to find any sympathy for them at all. Until the FR rise up against the unions and start demanding that politicians do more than just get elected and re-elected, nothing will change here.

Nada. Zilch. Zéro.

Before working on the unemployement problem, I think we need to change the mentality of the people in general (hard stuff, I know).

I mean, put an end to the racism, male people believe that working 40hours per week is not inhumane... etc...

Stéphane,

I think you should go have a look at them. I'm sure you'll love them ;-)

You may want to be a slave for the state - that is what paying a lot of taxes means - I don't want to. I absolutely refuse to be robbed of my hard-earned money to pay for the lazy and assisted. I refuse.

Good for you, Carine. If you want to move to le pays de la liberté, I suggest you sneak across our southern border (illegally, c'est sure)and then demand your rights by marching with the Mexicans. J/K. Although our immigration process is a bad joke, one that I don't find funny at all, I still think you should move here.

As far as elections are concerned on this side of the pond, however, it sounds like Al Gore might be planning to run to Hillary's left in 2008. Should be interesting to watch, since those two hate each other with the white-hot intensity of 1000 suns. And boy, do I love a good catfight.

"You may want to be a slave for the state - that is what paying a lot of taxes means"
please don't pull my leg, there is tax in every country, even in the US or UK.

"I absolutely refuse [...] to pay for the lazy"
You seem to forget that your heroes, GI's in Irack or NY firemen, are paid with tax. They will be happy to learn they are lazy.

Moreover if you don't want any airport, harbour, road, highways, bridge, hospital...etc it's true: cut all the taxes. But what a country will become ?
It's true that there is a lot of progress to do with public finance management, but that doesn't mean tax are useless.
And if you want a country with real low taxes don't go to US but to Canada which is now far more attractive and well-manage.
Finally in France, with free school, universities, hospital etc we pay taxes for something whereas in others countries it's just to make war all around the world...

And that's a problem. But there's even a difference between too many taxes and a taxocracy like France that steals most of your money.

You seem to forget that your heroes, GI's in Irack or NY firemen, are paid with tax. They will be happy to learn they are lazy.

Did I say troops were lazy? Don't play this game with me. Certainly American troops aren't lazy. They weren't lazy in 1944 either. I'd be glad to know my tax money is being used for a strong French army. Unfortunately it is not the case. It is mostly used to pay looters.

Moreover if you don't want any airport, harbour, road, highways, bridge, hospital...etc it's true: cut all the taxes. But what a country will become ?

A capitalist country which works thanks to private companies, not a country where the money is taken from Pierre to give to Jean. Wake up, there's an alternative to socialism. It may be hard for you to aknowledge, but it's true.

It's true that there is a lot of progress to do with public finance management, but that doesn't mean tax are useless.

Most are. Besides the army and the police, I don't see the point of any other sector being public.

Finally in France, with free school, universities, hospital etc we pay taxes for something whereas in others countries it's just to make war all around the world...

Free school and hospitals?!? Are you kidding me??? As for the war comments, let's wait and see the next time you need the American taxpayers' money to save your little ass from the latest totalitarianism you helped build.

Wow, €1500 per month? You will all be rich!

Posted by: Mitch at May 30, 2006 10:23 PM

On second thought, why stop there? How about €2500 per month? Or more? Why has it taken this long to discover the secret of limitless wealth?
