I don't think Islam has something to do with the riots, although I don't exclude some people that can be motived by religious radicalism.
Sometimes, Islam can bring some identity for the youth living in the 'banlieues', some identity that fills the gap, succeeding governmenst created by showing no concern for those living in poor suburbs.

Once again, the 'Ministre de l'inférieur' is calling all his buddies from TV and newspapers, nothing greater for him than showing how he stands (4ft at most heehee) firm in front of the 'organized gangs' (that's a laugh !).

For the 'Mini'Minister it's always time to open the prison's gate, while the gate for a better future and more concern for the poorest remain closed.

Eventually, someday one will try to understand why are they rioting...

If you follow all the links provided at the Pave post you will discover it is the police that have identified the gangs as Islamites not anonymous identiy-less ciphers.

If you give even a casual skim, you will discover today -- not some distant foggy "someday" -- they are rioting because they are being instructed in insurrection, they are tactically organized, they are attacking the police as stand-ins for the state and the state's authority.

How nice to live in Cloud Cuckooland as you do. Meanwhile France is on a short fuse.

Islam is no less responsible for the riots than Islam was responsible for 911.

I tried to introduce an interesting debate about the origins of the riots...

Sid you live in a poor Suburb of Paris Damian ?

Damn! I've been living for 31 years in the Pétainist Entity, but I think I'll always be surprised by the capacity of Weasels to ignore bear reality.

A Stéphanoid moonbat working for Anal+ TV channel did very good last year: look at this video. All along you hear stuff like "Allah akbar, bro", "We're in Jerusalem here"... Between 13" and 16", you can see those filthy muslim punks shout something, and the Anal+ subtitled "Sarkozy, fascist!". Well. Now replay the video but don't look at it, just listen: you clearly hear "Sarkozy, sale Juif !" (Sarkozy, dirty Jew).

"Permanent Intifada" ! That's too funny to be true !

McCarthy, you better recognize there's no witch hunt to be done in France. Instead of cumulating videos and articles, you better go to the 'banlieus' yourself and try to talk with the people living there, maybe you'll start to understand some things.

I'm not supporting anyone who attack police officers or burn cars, but at least, I'm not observing the world from my "tour d'ivoire" and complaining all the time of what's happening down there.

Stephane,

Like you know what the "banlieues" are. Unfortunately for you, you're talking to people precisely who know what it is.

The videos were for your little eyes to see. You know, some people here support their claims with links, unlike others who insist on simply sharing a "point of vue" (sic).

Kid, I've been living in Bobigny for 5 years, stop your arrogant rants now, it won't work with me. Wanna talk about the neuf trois, banlieues? Be my guest! I think I met Muslim brotherhood or Tablire (see this followed by that) wackos before you even heard those words.
About permanent intifada, those are not my words, kid, they are from the Action Police union.

...Damn! You owned me again: I keep on talking real world with you!

Posted by: McCarthy at October 25, 2006 06:23 PM

The "kid" as you call me has been living in one of the worst neighborhood of Melbourne, and I've seen what's like to be excluded from society and from any chance to succeed in life.

By the way, I never said it was YOUR words... Pure paranoïd scyzophrenia.
