NYC Letter: Then And Now
On December 7, 1941 the Japanese attacked without warning the American fleet at anchor in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The next day, President Roosevelt sought and received from the Democratic Congress a formal declaration of war against Japan. The lone dissenting vote, Rep. Jeannette Rankin (R-MT). The early war was rough going. There was constant bad news and little that was encouraging. America's enemies looked insuperable. Americans responded by pledging themselves to WORK, FIGHT, SACRIFICE.
To DO MORE.

(R) One Year Later
Four years later, all the Axis powers were defeated. Japan signed an unconditional surrender and conceded to occupation by a foreign power for the first time in its long history.
On September 11, 2001 the Islamite terrorist organization Al-Qaeda attacked without warning the WTC in NYC. On October 7, 2001 coalition forces attacked and overthrew the rogue state of Afghanistan,* al-Qaeda's principal patron. October 9, 2004 Hamid Karzai beat out 22 other candidates to become the first democratically elected president of Afghanistan. On March 20, 2003 coalition forces attacked and overthrew the rogue state of Iraq,** a sponsor of terrorism. January 30, 2005 Iraqis voted by the millions (58% turnout) defying Islamite and Ba'athist terrorist threats and democratically elected members to the 275-seat Iraqi National Assembly. These extraordinary successes were accomplished in a span of less than 4 years.

(R) Democrats Come To Power,
Baker Report Released
In America oppositional politics and anti-war media join forces. On November 7, 2006 the Democratic party wins majorities in both houses of Congress. December 6, 2006 the Iraq Study Group Report is released to the American public. America's enemies look insuperable. Democrats respond by pledging themselves to TALK, APOLOGIZE, LEAVE.
And if they have the time, IMPEACH.
Where are the Democrats of yesteryear?

Although I would not celebrate the success in Afghanistan, where corrupted representative of the governement are making money on opium and heroine traffic, arms dealings ; and a parliament where representatives are complaining of having no freedom of speech.
It seems that the rogue state is still alive there.
