Who said France had no future?
Who said France had no future? I mean with such a flamboyant history on top of that...
Our Foreign Minister, Bernard Kouchner, brilliantly summed up my thoughts by agreeing to participate in a song called «Deutschland» - I kid you not. But wait for more: the song was written by a Turkish band.
Both the French and the German Foreign Ministers sang along. The goal: "promote Franco-German 'harmony' and the integration of Turkish minorities in Germany".
Tout un programme, as we say here.
For a longer version of the song (it is kind of worth it), check this other video.
« Frankreich ». Hmmm. Sounds like déjà vu to me.

Posted by: Max at November 14, 2007 11:33 PMMax, an ebullient eristician, provides three links to the same press release -- churned into a news story -- from a lobby with an axe to grind. But what is Max arguing? Certainly not the topic of this post.
But Max having found "news" to his liking is now an expert on American tourism and is anxious to let us know. Alas, the subject is more profound and conflicted than Max's Google skim of headlines. For example, here is a more authoritative and contrary view:
LONDON November 12, 2007 (PRNewswire) -- With the kick-off of London's World Travel Market this week -- the premier global travel and tourism convention -- the big questions on the minds of tourism and hospitality professionals are: "What countries have the best reputations and which ones rank in the top 10 list of desired country brands when it comes to travel?" The answers might surprise you.According to this year's Country Brand Index (CBI), Australia once again earned the coveted spot as the world's top country brand, with the United States ranking second and the United Kingdom ascending to third. Other countries making the top 10 included Japan [10], Canada [6], France [4th] and Greece [9].
The CBI report makes for informative reading, but this may overwhelm Max's expert skim skills.
Since Max has developed a sudden interest in tourism, we invite him to visit our recent posts here, here, here, here, here, and here for insights into tourism-dependent France.
