Pave: Yankee Stay Home
Le jour 323 de Sarko
Oh, boo hoo HOO! Mr. France doesn't want weak-dollar Yankees crowding out big-spending Saudi princes and African dictators who love to shop.
FRANCE TO LIMIT NUMBER OF US VISITORS
April 1, 2008 (lostweekend.tv) - Never ones to spare other countries sensibilities, Paris has announced that they will place limits on the number of US tourists they'll admit into France from the 1st of January next year.Mirroring similar quotas the country already has in place for visitors from various other non-European countries, including Russia and China, the French foreign minister cited economic concerns and the "popularity of France" as the reasoning behind the limitation.
... The country is regularly swamped with visitors and has been forced to limit the amount of visitors from countries with low-spending tourists, the weakness of the US dollar is sure to have played a part in France's decision.
No word yet on exactly how many US tourists will be allowed past immigration, but estimates suggest as little as 10,000 annually, a drastic cut.
French pompousness at its most refined. The announcement of limitations on Chinese visitors, back in 2000, caused a diplomatic s**tstorm and this new announcement is sure to have Freedom Fries back on menus in the US.
If you absolutely must take a French holiday, try here. It's cheaper.

Yankees are "just " yankees, as everybody knows .....
Ah, M. Max, first he shows up and posts the very same insult twice, three minutes apart and now he says he is banned even as he posts again.
While calling us an idiot Max acts the idiot. Not too smart but oh so French.

Posted by: max at April 3, 2008 12:51 AMOh, M. Max comes back. He thinks we are his "poor Damien [sic]", that we are great buddies that exchange "tu" back and forth. But we are not the one nor the other.
Here is M. Max pronouncing this blog a sewer. Yet where is M. Max spending his time? Why, here. With us. In the sewer. We have not asked M. Max to visit us. He comes on his own. Now what sort of person smells a sewer and then descends to play in it? Not once. But several times just today. [Pause] The sort of person M. Max is.
Not too smart, but oh so French.
