Mayday! Mayday!
[With the sun and the hot temperatures comes back blogging ;)]
For the 40 years of Mai 68, we were kind of hoping we would have some fun watching demonstrations for the highly revered and respected May 1, in Paris.
Well, no. It was very disappointing. There were very few people (only 15,000 people in Paris according to the Police), compared to last year for example, many of them, when we arrived Place de la République, being Turks or Tamils and most posters being the same as last year. Not quite l'imagination au pouvoir.
Are the soixante-huitards too tired or were they simply sunbathing in their country second home?
A video (Thanks to RV) and some pictures.

Death to capitalism - Long live socialism

Social ecology against capital

Against the muzzle, rage - Food riots: neither diet, nor crumbs

In order to live and not only survive in the Parisian region, pay raises! Free the purchasing power!

They work here, they live here, they stay here - amnesty for undocumented workers -- Solidarity - poster: 10 euros

Profit rationale = death rationale

Logique de profit = Logique de mort
This could just as easily be rendered:
Logique de profit = Logique des boulots
But jobs, of course, fall from the sky with no other end other than redistributing capital to workers via paychecks.
We are always struck by glaring omissions by greenies and pinkies who think Communism the way to go. Here are a few common oversights:
A) Communist-run states are flagrant polluters. China, then-Soviet Union, now-crypto-Soviet Russia, then-East Germany, NoKo -- all among the the world's most reckless and egregious polluters. Under Communism, Nature "takes it on the chin for the party".
B) Workers have state jobs so the state can better monitor and regulate workers and weed out the ideologically impure. Worker cadres typically have a political officer assigned who tempers any displays of discontent.
C) Every state worker gets a state paycheck that is non-negotiable. There are no strikes or petitions for higher wages.
We only wish the antimondialistes could have the pleasure of doing their finger-wagging in a Communist-run state.
