NYC Letter: Joe On The Job Redux

Day 40 of CHOPE

When the Vice President isn't taking personal phone calls from SBOs or dialing the administration's new-fangled Web site on his phone or watching every stimulus penny being spent, he's busy meeting with important Congressional leaders (scil., Democrats) getting the message right.

HARRY REID: ECONOMY STARTING TO TURN AROUND

February 23, 2009 (The Hill) - Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said on Monday that the banking industry is “very close” to being stabilized and the nation's economy is starting to rebound. ... Reid’s comments contrast with recent remarks of President Obama, who has repeatedly said the economy will get worse before it gets better.

A bemused Steve Gilbert of Sweetness & Light wonders aloud:

Mind you, not one cent of the “stimulus” money has yet to be spent. And yet the economy is turning around.

So why did we need the “stimulus” and all of the previous and subsequent giveaways?

Ah, well, gentle skimmer, because even as the economy is turning around it is ailing.

BIDEN: IT WILL TAKE TIME TO HEAL AILING ECONOMY

WASHINGTON February 25, 2009 (AP) — Vice President Joe Biden said Wednesday there is no "magic bullet" for curing the country's economic woes, urging patience and saying he hopes a recovery can be achieved in the next two years.

CHOPE.

Getting it right. Already working. But not really working, not yet.
