Earlier in the day Mr. Reid gushed:

If that wasn’t enough [Ms. Sotomayor's academic and professional credentials], her background is very significant — we could not have anyone better qualified.

How's that, Harry? How could you possibly know?

[Addressing Ms. Sotomayor.] I think your story is so compelling. Americans identify with the underdog, and you've been the underdog so many times in your life.

Here's a clue, a compelling life story is not a qualification for the bench, any bench, in the American judicature. Now go read the damn opinions!
