NYC Letter: The Confusing Constitution Redux -- Harry Reid
Day 850 of CHOPE
We often have cause to wonder, just how stupid is Harry Reid? He is stupid, that's for sure, but is he really this stupid?
GOODWIN LIU CLOTURE VOTE HAS FAILED IN THE SENATE
May 19, 2011 (NRD) - The U.S. Senate has failed to pass a cloture vote for Goodwin Liu by a vote of 52-43 with 1 Senator voting present.
And who is Goodwin Liu?, you ask. Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL) obliges with a snapshot of the Obama nominee (via Hot Air):
A Berkeley professor with no experience as a judge or practicing attorney, Liu believes that government healthcare and welfare are constitutional rights, and that foreign law should be used in American courts.
Mr. Liu is also a believer in the desirability of slavery reparations, most particularly the necessity of a money settlement.
Back to Mr. Reid.
As Harry Reid noted of Goodwin Liu after meeting with him:The court of appeals is where law is made, and we need the finest minds in the world for that.
What is evident is that the finest minds in the world do not lead the Democrat majority in the Senate. Here again are the Constitutional arrangements. The United States Congress, the legislative branch, is Constitutionally charged with creating law; the executive branch in the person of the president, enacts and enforces law; and the judicial branch comprised of the courts reviews law.
Could a career legislator of Mr. Reid's pedigree (5 Senate terms, 2 House terms) really be so uninformed about the Constitutional basis for legislating? Could he be this clueless as to the duties incumbent on the office in which he serves?
We searched for the above quote elsewhere but could only find instances referencing our single source above. [Pause.] We have posted without a corroborating source because, yes, we believe Harry Reid is just that stupid.
CHOPE.
Just this stupid.
