NYC Letter: On The Fail Trail -- Little Things Add Up

Day 1,044 of CHOPE

Mr. Obama believes 52.9% of you elected him to run for re-election. Upon securing a second term he will commence filling out his first term.

Running for president is a tough job. Tougher than actually being the president.

BARACK OBAMA HAS, ON AVERAGE,
ATTENDED A FUNDRAISER EVERY 5 DAYS IN 2011

December 1, 2011 (Mother Jones)

Once the majesty of Mr. Obama electrified the masses. That was then. Now it's hard to accumulate the masses (and this)...

When Hillary Clinton was on the campaign trail in 2008 and spoke at Scranton High School, the line to get tickets a few days before her appearance stretched about 1,000 people long. Monday's line to grab the available free tickets to President Barack Obama's speech Wednesday was noticeably shorter — about 225 people were waiting when the doors opened for the distribution.

"It's a little disappointing to see that," said Cathy Kneeland, 64, of Scranton, who showed up more than three hours early to stand in line and found herself second. "You would think more people would want to see the president speak."

By the end of the day, all 1,000 available tickets were distributed.

...or the party faithful, who are all very busy elsewhere on days Mr. Obama visits.

SEN. CASEY SKIPS OBAMA VISIT

November 30, 2011 (Politico) - Pennsylvania Sen. Bob Casey couldn't make it back to Scranton for President Obama's visit today, citing "the timing of votes in the Senate."

But it looks like he'll have no problem completing the 151-mile trek back to Philadelphia Thursday night, for a fundraiser scheduled with Paul Begala and James Carville. Despite votes scheduled for Thursday, Casey has a $250-a-person reception at the Racquet Club of Philadelphia slated for 6 p.m. Scheduling doesn't appear to be a problem.

The Obama majesty has lost a lot of its fairy-tale electricity (and this).

MICHELLE OBAMA, NASCAR
DOWNPLAY BOOING INCIDENT

(Mrs. Obama returned the compliment by looking bored-to-tears miserable for the duration of her purgatory in white trash hell. We hope this NASCAR incident doesn't queer that new-found adult pride in America.)

And the magic, what happened to the Obama magic?

OBAMA TURNING TO BIDEN FOR HELP
IN 3 KEY STATES

WASHINGTON November 25, 2011 (seattlepi.com/AP) - A year from Election Day, Democrats are crafting a campaign strategy for Vice President Joe Biden that targets the big three political battlegrounds: Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Florida, states where Biden might be more of an asset to President Barack Obama's re-election campaign than the president himself.

The Biden plan underscores an uncomfortable reality for the Obama team. ... The president sometimes struggles to connect with Ohio and Pennsylvania's white working-class voters, and with Jewish voters who make up a core constituency for Florida Democrats and view him with skepticism.

Biden has built deep ties to both groups during his four decades in national politics, connections that could make a difference.

Joe "2016" Biden is the new magic.
