After the slayings at Sandy Hook, the left began banging with its little hammers on the gun control bell. Bing bing bing bing bing.

Bing. Establish gun-free paradises. Bing. Confiscate legally owned guns. Bing. Publish the names and addresses of registered gun owners. Bing. "Declare the NRA a terrorist organization and make membership illegal." Bing. Label the NRA "enablers [sic] of mass murder". Bing. The NRA hates freedom. Bing. The second Amendment is a fraud. Bing. Gun ownership is racist. Bing. Guns empower white men "marinated in privilege" who are culturally prone to mass-murder. Bing. We must end America's culture of gun violence, that we, the petitioners, promote. Bing. Iran advises America to reconsider its gun laws. For God's sake! Iran gets it. China gets it! Piers Morgan gets it! For God's sake! Piers Morgan! Bing. Apropos of nothing, global warming!

Bing bing bing bing bing. Those little hammers have been busy. What all these little bings have in common is they do nothing -- whether by prescription or proscription or promotion -- to reduce gun violence. The left believes that with the end of legal gun possession there will be a magical concomitant end to illegal gun possession. [Pause.] They believe that, or that in outline.
